The **Professional Scrum Product Owner™ I (PSPO I)** is the official **Scrum.org** certification that validates understanding of the Product Owner accountability, maximizing product value, and using Scrum to deliver outcomes. It's **valid for life** and the exam consists of **80 questions in 60 minutes** with a minimum score of **85%**. This page explains how to prepare for it and links to our **500-question practice exam**, in English, with detailed explanations for every answer.

80 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes. Single choice, multiple choice and true/false. 100% online exam from home, no fixed sittings.
85% — i.e. **68 out of 80 correct answers**. Unanswered questions count as wrong. The average number of mistakes that still allows a pass is 12.
200 USD stand-alone from scrum.org. If you take the **official Professional Scrum Product Owner course** with a Professional Scrum Trainer (like Alex Ballarín at ITNOVE), **2 attempts** are included.
Scrum.org's focus areas for the Product Owner role: understanding Scrum, Product Backlog management, maximizing value, Product Goal, Product Vision, product metrics, and stakeholder relationships.
Both are certifications for Product Owners, but **PSPO I requires passing a rigorous exam** (CSPO is obtained just by attending the course). PSPO I never expires; CSPO requires renewal every 2 years with a fee. PSPO I is more recognized in the European market and focused on professionalizing the role.
It's not a formal requirement. But it helps to have worked in or near a Scrum team (PO, PM, project manager, manager). If you're coming from project management or business analysis, the course helps you re-learn from a product logic.
Same format (single/multi/true-false), same distribution across focus areas, difficulty calibrated with feedback from hundreds of students, and **questions in English, just like the real Scrum.org exam**. Every question includes an **explanation of the correct answer and why the distractors are wrong** — essential for understanding the framework.
**PSPO II** (advanced Product Owner, focused on strategy, value metrics and complex stakeholder management). Also **PSPO-AI Essentials** to integrate AI into discovery and prioritization. At least 1 year of experience is recommended before PSPO II.
Free access, no card required. You'll get your results with feedback by area at the end.
